War School (Short Film)
by Pulse Films
Director: Ben Newman
Ben Newman won the opportunity to make this film through the global change advocacy Ctrl.Alt.Shift project. War School went on to win both the 2010 Junior Award for Best Short and an award from the BFI.
Ctrl.Alt.Shift is a movement for a new generation fighting social and global injustice. These films were made by members of the community to raise awareness of issues they care about.
Opting for a short based around war + peace, Ben Newman came up with one of the most popular entries, gaining praise across the board by re-creating a military training camp for child soldiers in a British school. It was described by Riz Ahmed as a great idea, simple, communicating a direct message.
